Life-saving ministry for women opening on the Outer Banks
The Dare Challenge Women's Center will soon transform lives through the power of Christ.
Dare Challenge, with over 20 years of successful experience helping men in addiction, recently announced the grand opening celebration of a long-awaited Women’s Center on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
The public is invited to celebrate the opening of the new Women’s Center, located at 448 Old Wharf Rd in Wanchese, North Carolina, from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024. All are welcome to stop by at any time during the grand opening event for food, music and tours of the campus before the first students arrive this fall.
The main facility on the farm was renovated to accommodate six female students and two staff members. Spaces include a reception area, living room, classroom, chapel, art room and a large kitchen equipped to cater small events.
The Women’s Center will be run according to the time-tested rules and structure of the existing Dare Challenge Men’s Center, because the goal is the same: to transform lives through the power of Christ and teach the students sustainable skills.
The farm at the Women’s Center will provide an array of opportunities for students to learn skills while delivering revenue to keep the ministry self-sustaining. Local volunteer horticultural experts will assist students in creating and maintaining a three-season garden to provide fresh produce, fruits and herbs while also engaging and training students in the art of canning, preserving and utilizing the homegrown ingredients for jams, preserved vegetables, teas and salves for sale to the public.
A volunteer beekeeper has established honeybee hives and will teach the students to care for the bees and produce honey, which will be another source of income. Chickens will also produce eggs for ministry use and sale to the public.
Additionally, the Women’s Center will provide GED classes for those who need to obtain their high school diploma. Successful program graduates can take free courses at the College of the Albemarle-Dare County Campus to learn a trade. These educational and vocational opportunities are pathways to a brighter future for women in the Outer Banks community.
Mark your calendar for the September 15 grand opening celebration, where you will learn firsthand how lives will be transformed through Dare Challenge, a Christ-centered, residential discipleship program for individuals experiencing life-controlling problems.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
About Dare Challenge
Dare Challenge is based upon the fact that our basic need is a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. People use drugs and alcohol in an attempt to fill the void in their lives that only Jesus can fill. When Jesus is genuinely received as Lord and Savior of a person’s life, a total transformation will follow. A person’s life will radically change. Jesus is not just interested in whether or not you go to church, or “have said a prayer.” He must be Lord of all of your life.
The mission of Outer Banks Dare Challenge is to help people who have life-controlling problems and initiate the discipleship process to the point where the student can function as a Christian in society, applying spiritually motivated Biblical principle to relationships in the family, local church, chosen vocation and the community. Dare Challenge endeavors to help people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well and spiritually alive.
